February 23 - 25, 2023

Theatre is back at SFX!

After six years of after-school musicals at St. Francis Xavier, Mr. Josh (and the rest of the world) had to take a quick intermission for Covid... but now he's back!

And he's bringing his magic carpet to Holy Cross Hall to stage Disney's Aladdin Jr.

Offered exclusively to SFX students, this after-school program will rehearse 2-3 times per week (M, W, F) for eight weeks*, and will culminate in a live performance weekend for the whole community to enjoy.

Join us as we kick-start our crazy program again, and get these kids on stage!

*Not every student will be called for every rehearsal!

Workshops

The Workshop

Friday, December 2nd
3:00-4:15

Not sure if you want to do the musical?

A little shy to sing or act in front of other people?

Then come and "see if you like it" at our workshop!

There's no pressure to sign up for the musical!

There will be singing, dancing, and acting... all just for fun.

Perhaps you want to take it further and join our after-school musical, or maybe you just want to have a little bit of fun on a Friday afternoon (but that's it).

Either way is great!

You can absolutely use the workshop to get you ready for the big auditions the following week.  Or it can be a silly, fun, one-time kind of adventure for you.

So come on out to the workshop, and let's test that magic carpet to see if you wanna fly away with us in January for Disney's Aladdin Jr!

*Because we will be mixing all the grades together, masks will be required to be worn whenever the students are inside.

  • All students who audition are guaranteed a role.

  • Mr. Josh does not believe in any kind of "Tree #4" type of role, and will ensure that every student has an amazing moment on stage, no matter how "big or small" their role is.

  • Auditions are only open to current St. Francis Xavier students, grades 1st-8th.

  • Audition Lines and the instructions for Singing Auditions will be posted here soon.

  • All auditioning students will be required to act and sing by themselves on stage... But don't worry!  We're super friendly!!

Rehearsals

The Rehearsal Schedule

January 4th - February 22nd

  • All rehearsals will be after school, in SFX's Holy Cross Hall.

  • Rehearsals will be on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

  • Generally, rehearsals run from 3:00 - 5:00

Not every student will be called for every rehearsal!

A detailed rehearsal schedule (including individual actor/role commitments) will be made available after auditions, but before the Winter Break.

Actors must be committed to attending all the rehearsals that they are called for.  Conflicts due to other after-school activities (including sports!) will play a role in the student's casting.

To be clear: this is not an after-school club.  If your student is not called for rehearsal that day, they should not come.  The theater teachers will not be responsible for supervision of these students.

*Because we will be mixing all the grades together, masks will be required to be worn whenever the students are inside.
